What to Expect in Your First Week
Most beginners feel awkward and inflexible in their first classes — this is entirely normal and expected. Hatha and Yin yoga are the most beginner-friendly styles, emphasising slower movements, longer holds and instruction on proper alignment. Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow are generally better suited to those with some experience.

- You do not need to be flexible to start yoga — flexibility is a result, not a prerequisite
- A yoga mat, comfortable clothing and an open mind are all the equipment you need
- Aim for 3 sessions in your first week — daily practice is not necessary initially
